From FX to exotics
I started in 2007 as an FX market maker for large corporates. Over eleven years in banks and asset managers, I moved into derivatives, rates first, then vanilla and exotic options on equities, rates, FX, cross-asset and hybrids.
Subprime as a junior FX trader. The euro sovereign crisis in 2011. Brexit in 2016, when the market priced Remain and my book was positioned for Leave. The volatility shock of February 2018.
ARTE, since 2018
I founded ARTE in 2018 to run my own processes and my own strategies. Independence, with the entrepreneur’s risk that comes with it. In March 2020 we struck our first NAV for outside investors, the week Covid crashed markets.
2023: starting over
The first fund I co-founded, a volatility arbitrage strategy, returned its capital to investors in 2023. I took six months to rethink everything, and rebuilt around three rules: rules before discretion, a strategy readable every morning, a team rather than a stack of talent. The process is now more systematic and more algorithmic.
Today
I am Founder & CEO of ARTE Group, which is organised in two parts:
- Private Wealth, our family office. No outside clients; more than 25 strategies run there on house capital, across all asset classes.
- Global Wealth, for external investors. Strategies that can absorb outside capital without losing their edge are managed there by ARTE One Ltd, an Approved Investment Manager supervised by the BVI FSC, through Cayman funds registered with CIMA. Our capital stays invested alongside.
The group also includes NovARTE Technologies, its trading technology (models, algorithms, software), and Alphacraft DAO, a decentralised organisation whose members hold stakes in group companies.
I run the family office. On the asset management side I do not manage the funds day to day: I set direction and advise the ARTE One team.
What I write about
Macro, read through derivatives and volatility: options market signals, volatility indices and their futures, event risk, crises seen from the inside. Never recommendations.
